Food to Yinmapin Township

Dear donors, we are pleased to share the recent report that comes from your generous contributions:

The IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons) in Yinmapin Township have been confronting immense challenges following their peaceful protests against the military coup in Myanmar. Tragically, the response from the Burmese army resulted in the loss of lives, including children. Presently, over 2,000 individuals in 120 households reside in the IDP camp, facing economic hardships and critical water scarcity issues due to the hot and arid climate in the region.

Our initial efforts, based on the generous donation we received from Better Burma, involved distributing rice to around 177 families, equating to approximately 700 individuals. We distributed 6.72kg of rice per family. Additionally, during our distribution, other donors contributed cooking oils and noodles to supplement the provisions.

However, it's essential to note that the donation amount is insufficient to cover all the villagers and the transportation costs required. To bridge this gap, community volunteers have generously contributed their own funds to cover the transportation expenses.

The people residing in Yinmar Pin Township wish to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the Better Burma donors and volunteers who have generously contributed to this project, envisioning a brighter future for their region. One villager said that, "If it weren't for the military atrocities and coup, we would still be experiencing abundance at this very moment—especially during this current time, coinciding with the harvest period for our farmers. Donors, please visit our village after the civil war; we will treat you with everything we have."

We do earnestly request your further support for this critical initiative, which will significantly impact the lives of the IDPs. Your contribution will directly provide essential food supplies and facilitate access to clean water, offering a sense of stability and relief during these challenging times. Thank you for considering our appeal to extend a helping hand to those in need and make a positive difference in the lives of the displaced population in Yinmapin Township.
